Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom. This unscripted documentary invites viewers into the story of Juneteenth - the holiday recognizing the end of legalized slavery in Texas - through the eyes of a Black man learning about the holiday from the direct descendants of those liberated.

Tales from the Porch is an ongoing multimedia project that amplifies stories and the voices of members of the community including but not limited to minority-owned businesses, organizations, and emerging artists. In its second iteration, the project featured seven community leaders impacting the Buffalo, NY community despite the pandemic and the May 14 tragedy.
Over the course of 6 months, Aitina has guided a small cohort of emerging artists into the process of responding to the Tales from the Porch project and this exhibit will feature their artistic approach to the idea of the “Porch”.
JCC welcomes artist, hip-hop/jazz musician, storyteller, poet, and entrepreneur A.I. The Anomaly (Aitina Fareed-Cooke) for a three-day residency. A.I. is dedicated to the utilization of music, lyricism, photography, and cinematography as her “weapons of mass creativity” to capture thought-provoking stories.

Aitina Fareed-Cooke “A.I. The Anomaly” illustrates personal stories of trauma and triumph while showcasing how the arts can be used to heal, motivate, and inform. This short-term residency includes class visits, presentations, and a theatrical hip hop performance for an ultimate experience that aims to ignite thought and expand perspectives.
